Police in Drohobych take into custody an offender suspected of selling “cannabis”

During the authorized search, law enforcement officers seized from the suspect drugs worth about one million hryvnias at black market prices.

It was also established that the offender was selling cannabis to residents of Drohobych from hand to hand.

The previously convicted resident of the district center, aged 31, was exposed by criminal police operatives jointly with investigators of the Drohobych District Police Department, under the procedural supervision of the Drohobych District Prosecutor’s Office.

The police documented several facts of sale of prohibited substances by the offender and, during an authorized search, found and seized from him jars, packages and rolls with a substance of plant origin, similar to the narcotic drug cannabis, electronic scales, packaging equipment, a significant amount of money received from illegal activities and other material evidence.

All seized items were sent for examination to the Lviv Scientific Research Forensic Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. The total value of the detected drugs at black market prices is about one million hryvnias.

Investigators of the territorial police unit served the offender a notice of suspicion of committing criminal offenses stipulated by Part 2 of Art. 307 (Illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation, shipment or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum penalty provided by the sanction of the article is imprisonment for up to ten years with confiscation of property.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and the suspect is in custody by court order.
