In Drohobych, police detained an intruder who set fire to a roommate

On May 2, at about 9:30 p.m., hotline 102 received a report that a local resident had doused gasoline and set fire to his roommate in a private house on Sichovykh Striltsiv Street in Drohobych.

The investigative task force and employees of other services of the Drohobych District Police Department immediately left for the specified address.

According to police, a conflict between a 42-year-old man and his 40-year-old roommate arose while drinking alcohol. The attacker doused the woman with incendiary mixture and set her on fire. The victim was hospitalized. She has burns of I-III degrees.

The malefactor, who was in a state of intoxication, was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, the court will soon choose a measure of restraint for him. All physical evidence was seized.

According to the fact, investigators of the territorial police department, under the procedural guidance of the Drohobych District Prosecutor’s Office, opened a criminal case under Part 2 of Article 15 Part 1 of Article 115 (Attempted murder) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for a sentence of seven to fifteen years in prison.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
