The accident occurred on July 24, at about 11:30 a.m., on Lvivska Street in Horodok, Lviv District.
As law enforcement officers have preliminarily established, the driver of a Mercedes-Benz C-220, a 22-year-old resident of Lviv, hit an electric bicycle driven by a 78-year-old local resident.
As a result of the accident, the elderly man was injured and taken to the hospital.
Investigators of the Police Department No. 1 of the Lviv District Police Department No. 2 opened criminal proceedings over the incident under Part 1 of Article 286 (Violation of the rules of road safety) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum penalty provided for by the sanction of the article is restraint of liberty for up to three years, with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years.
Law enforcement officers are establishing the circumstances of the incident.
