On August 16, at 11:00 a.m., a 73-year-old resident of Kharkiv contacted hotline 102 with a report of the theft of cash in the amount of about three thousand hryvnias from the residence in the village of Novy Yarychiv, Lviv district, where she temporarily lives.

An investigative-operational group and employees of other services of police department No. 1 of Lviv district police department No. 1 worked at the scene of the incident. As a result of the measures taken, the operatives of the criminal police established that a 51-year-old resident of the Zaporizhia region was involved in the theft and detained him in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. The law enforcement officers also discovered and seized physical evidence from him.

According to the fact, the investigators of the territorial division of the police opened criminal proceedings under Part 4 of Article 185 (Theft) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a term of five to eight years. Soon, the court will choose a preventive measure for the perpetrator.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
