The accident occurred on 2 December at 17.25 on the Kulykiv-Velykosilky road near the village of Velyke Kolodne, Lviv district.
Law enforcement officers have preliminarily established that the driver of a Mercedes-Benz Atego truck, a 64-year-old resident of a village in Lviv district, hit a cyclist, a 65-year-old resident of the district.
As a result of the accident, the driver of the two-wheeler was injured and taken to hospital, where he died despite the efforts of doctors.
Investigators of the Transport Crimes Investigation Department of the Lviv Police opened criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 286 (Violation of the rules of road safety) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for a term of three to eight years with or without deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years.
