The accident occurred on July 23, at about 15:10, on the Lviv-Sambir-Uzhhorod highway near the village of Porichchya, Lviv district.
As law enforcement officers have preliminarily established, a car Opel Astra driven by a 61-year-old Lviv resident collided with a DAF truck driven by a 44-year-old foreigner.
As a result of the accident, the driver of the car was injured and hospitalized.
Investigators of the Police Department No. 1 of the Lviv District Police Department No. 2 opened criminal proceedings over the incident under Part 1 of Article 286 (Violation of the rules of road safety) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum penalty provided for by the sanction of the article is restraint of liberty for up to three years, with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years.
