A tragic accident occurred on the morning of December 15 at around 7:00 a.m. on the railway section between “Dubliany-Lvivske-Zapytiv” in the village of Zapytiv, Lviv District.
According to preliminary police findings, a diesel train operating the “Stoyaniv-Lviv” route struck a 54-year-old resident of a village in the Lviv District. The man succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Investigators have initiated criminal proceedings under Part 3 of Article 276 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which provides for imprisonment of five to ten years for violations of safety regulations in the operation of railway transport.
Police are currently working to determine all the circumstances of the incident.
