Man Killed After Being Hit by Two Vehicles in Lviv District; Police Working to Identify the Victim

A fatal traffic accident occurred on January 8 at 11:03 PM on the Lviv-Ternopil highway in the village of Tarasivka, Lviv District.

Preliminary findings indicate that a Skoda Octavia, driven by a 72-year-old resident of Khmelnytskyi region, struck a pedestrian estimated to be 35–40 years old. Shortly after, a Volkswagen Transporter, operated by a 63-year-old resident of Kirovohrad region, hit the man again. The pedestrian died at the scene from his injuries. His identity remains unknown.

A criminal case has been initiated under Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of traffic safety rules). The law stipulates penalties ranging from three to eight years of imprisonment, with an optional driving ban of up to three years.

Police are appealing to anyone with information that could help establish the victim’s identity or clarify the circumstances of the accident to contact the emergency line at 102 or visit the nearest police department.

The investigation is ongoing.
