Passenger attacks controllers in Lviv trolleybus

On March 5, an unidentified passenger attacked three controllers in trolleybus #22 while they were working on the line. The offender hit one of them in the face. It happened around 19.00 on Metropolitan Andrey Street. This was reported by Lvivavtodor.

“My colleagues and I were checking fares. There was one of the passengers in the vehicle who showed signs of severe alcohol intoxication and was behaving aggressively. We approached him and asked him to behave politely and not to shout in the vehicle.

The passenger began to swear and threaten us when we said that. In addition, he started a scuffle, punched one of the inspectors in the face, tried to tear off the chest camera and snatched the phone from his hands when he called the police.

At the next stop, we asked the passenger to get out of the vehicle. Soon after, police officers arrived at the scene to clarify the circumstances,” said a Lvivavtodor control officer who worked on the route.

The controllers filed a statement with the police. Law enforcement officers are investigating the incident.

As a reminder, in Lviv, controllers started working on all city routes since the introduction of cashless fare collection in all public transport on December 11 last year. As of now, 81 controllers are working on the lines. They assist drivers in operating the e-ticket system, conduct outreach to passengers, and identify violators of public transport fares.
