In Lviv, a man promised to bring a car to servicemen, took money and disappeared

Lviv police expose criminal who cheated servicemen out of money

 

The accused promised to bring a car from abroad. However, he embezzled the money and disappeared.

The offender, a 33-year-old resident of Lviv, was exposed by investigators jointly with criminal police operatives of the Police Department No. 1 of the Lviv District Police Department No. 2, under the procedural supervision of the Frankivsk District Prosecutor’s Office.

As law enforcement officers established, the accused promised the serviceman to buy and bring a Honda CR-V car from abroad for UAH 89 thousand for the needs of the brigade in which he serves. However, after receiving the money on his bank card, the offender never got in touch. He embezzled the money and spent it on his own needs.

The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings initiated under Part 1 Article 190 (Fraud) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine has been completed. The indictment was sent to the court for consideration. The accused faces up to three years’ imprisonment for the crime.
