An apartment on the seventh floor was on fire in Lviv

On December 28, at 03:22, the Rescue Service “101” received a report about a fire in the city of Lviv on the street Ternopilska, 21 “e”. The fire started in one of the rooms in an apartment on the seventh floor of a nine-story residential building.

The fire and rescue units of the city of Lviv, as well as the operational coordination center of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Lviv region, went to the scene of the incident.

The fire spread quickly in the apartment, and by the time firefighters arrived at the scene of the call, flames were already coming out of the windows of the apartment. At the same time, due to dense smoke caused by the fire, the stairwell was filled with toxic combustion products.

Therefore, the rescuers put on special devices for the protection of the respiratory and vision organs and began to carry out work to save people and eliminate the fire. In total, with the help of rescue devices, firefighters took 19 people out of the apartments located on the seventh floor and upper floors, including 4 children.

At 04:09 a.m. the fire was localized and at 04:14 a.m. it was extinguished by the 5 units of the gas and smoke protection service.
As it turned out on the spot, the owner of the apartment together with his wife independently left the dangerous premises before the arrival of firefighters. As a result of the fire, the owner of the apartment received burns of both upper limbs of the I – II degree (14%). A man, born in 1992, was hospitalized in the communal 8th city clinical hospital in a moderate condition.

As a result of the fire, the apartment was completely destroyed and household items on an area of 70 square meters. The cladding of the entrance walls on the area of 150 square meters and the window frames on the 8th and 9th floors were also damaged.

28 personnel and 7 units of special equipment were involved in extinguishing the fire. The circumstances of the event and the cause of the fire are being established.
