Over the weekend, a series of fires occurred in Lviv, resulting in the destruction of a total of 11 garbage containers at several sites. It has been reported that at 1 Vyhovskoho Street, the LKP “Lvivspetskomuntrans” service faced two incidents of fire over two nights, leading to the loss of seven containers. At other locations, particularly at 229 Horodotska Street and 12 Boberskoho Street, serviced by the company “Spetsavtotrans-Lviv” (SAT), the flames destroyed four more bins.
There are suspicions that the incidents could have been caused by arson, and as a result, representatives of both companies have already contacted law enforcement. At Vyhovskoho Street, damages are estimated at around 70 thousand hryvnias, as the cost of one container is about 10 thousand hryvnias. The administration of LKP “Lvivspetskomuntrans” has filed a suspicion of arson regarding their property assets.
Transporters are inviting the public to join the investigation and report any possible information about the circumstances of the fires. In addition, the first deputy mayor of Lviv, Andriy Moskalenko, urged Lviv residents to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the hotlines of the city authorities and police.
