In Lviv, a foreigner who hit a woman pedestrian died in a few hours after being hit by another car

First, the Nissan driver hit a woman pedestrian on the road, and almost three hours after the accident was registered, he was hit by a Honda driver. As a result of the accidents, two people were injured, and the driver who committed the first accident was injured during the second accident and died at the scene.

As previously established by the law enforcement officers, on October 17 at around 9:00 p.m. on Shevchenka Street in Lviv, the driver of a Nissan car, a 50-year-old foreigner, hit a pedestrian, a 58-year-old Lviv woman, who was crossing the road outside the pedestrian crossing. As a result of the accident, the woman received bodily injuries and was hospitalized in intensive care.

A few hours later, around 11:45 p.m., after the traffic accident was registered, another accident occurred at the same place.

The driver of the Honda Accord car, a 22-year-old resident of Lviv, did not monitor the situation on the road, did not choose a safe speed, as a result of which he knocked over the cones and the traffic sign “Road accident registration”, which the police posted on the roadway, as they ensured traffic safety, more – ran over the driver who had committed the previous accident (hitting a woman-pedestrian) and the tow truck driver who came to pick up the Nissan car damaged during the previous accident. After that, the Honda also collided with a police car, which was standing with flashing beacons on.

As a result of the collision, the driver of the tow truck was injured and taken to the hospital, while the driver of the Nissan, a 50-year-old foreigner, died of his injuries at the scene.

The police detained the Honda driver in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, and soon the court will choose a preventive measure against him.

As a result of the road accident that occurred at 9:00 p.m., investigators of the department of investigation of crimes in the field of transport of the Lviv Oblast police opened criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Article 286 (Violation of traffic safety rules) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

As a result of the second traffic accident, criminal proceedings were opened under Part 2 of Article 286 (Violation of Traffic Safety Rules) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a period of three to eight years with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a period of up to three years or without it.

The police are establishing the circumstances of the events.
