A traffic accident occurred on December 12 at around 5:15 PM on Horodotska Street in Lviv.
Preliminary police reports indicate that the driver of an Opel Meriva, a 56-year-old resident of a village in the Lviv district, struck an 81-year-old pedestrian, a local resident.
As a result of the accident, the elderly woman sustained injuries and was hospitalized.
The incident has led to a criminal case being opened under Part 1 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum penalty under this article includes restriction of liberty for up to three years, with a possible suspension of driving rights for the same period.
Law enforcement officers are currently investigating the circumstances of the accident.
