In Lviv, operatives exposed an intruder involved in “pickpocketing”

Lviv Region Police once again warn – be vigilant and protect your property.

On May 18, hotline 102 received a message from a 35-year-old Lviv resident that a bank card had been stolen from the back pocket of his trousers a few days ago. In the future, more than 8,000 hryvnias were withdrawn from the card.

The measures taken by the operatives of the Criminal Police of the Lviv District Police Department №1 established the identity of the malefactor – a 33-year-old resident of the Lviv district.

In fact, investigators of the territorial police department opened a criminal case under Part 4 of Article 185 (Theft) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum penalty provided by the sanction of the article is imprisonment for up to eight years.

Lviv Region Police warns – be vigilant and protect your property:
– do not carry valuables, documents and keys in the outer pockets of clothes, bags and backpacks (especially in the back pockets) – it is better to use inner pockets, waist bags;
– make sure that the wallet does not stand out on the clothes and does not attract attention;
– make sure your bag is closed and keep it in sight;
– pay special attention to people who try to approach you closely;
– do not carry large sums of money – take as much as you plan to spend;
– do not list money in the wallet in front of people;

If you are a victim of a “pocket thief”, you must report it to the hotline “102”.
It should be:
– remember the signs of the attacker: what he was wearing, approximate height, age, physique;
– where the attacker ran;
– describe the stolen property;
– block credit cards;
– wait at the place of police officers.
