According to investigators of the Police Department №1 of the Lviv District Police Department №1 together with operatives of the Department for Combating Cybercrime in Lviv Region under the procedural guidance of the Halych District Prosecutor’s Office, the attacker posted fake messages on social networks about passenger traffic. However, after receiving funds on card accounts, he stopped contacting the victims.
During the searches, law enforcement officers confiscated a mobile phone, bank cards and other physical evidence.
Investigators of the territorial police department informed the perpetrator of the suspicion of committing a crime under Part 3 of Article 190 (Fraud committed on a large scale or by illegal operations using electronic computers) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for a term of three to eight years.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing. Law enforcement officers identify all persons who have suffered from the actions of the perpetrator.
