Lviv police detain 18-year-old girl suspected of murdering her friend

During a domestic conflict, an 18-year-old girl stabbed her husband several dozen times with a kitchen knife, causing him fatal injuries.

She faces up to fifteen years in prison for her actions.

The incident occurred on the night of 6 October in an apartment in a building on Vyhovsky Street in Lviv, where the victim, a 27-year-old resident of Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, was renting a room. That evening, his friend, an 18-year-old Lviv resident, came to visit him. While drinking alcohol, a conflict arose between the girl and the man, during which the attacker stabbed the victim several dozen times in different parts of his body with a kitchen knife. The man died from his injuries, and the suspect fled the scene. At the same time, she tried to conceal the racial evidence, in particular, she hid the murder weapon.

Criminal police operatives, investigators and employees of other services of the Police Department No. 1 of the Lviv District Police Department No. 2, as well as criminal investigation operatives and employees of the Criminal Analysis Department of the Lviv Police were involved in solving the murder.

The law enforcement established the location of the offender, who was hiding in Stryi, and detained her in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

Investigators of the territorial police unit, under the procedural supervision of the Frankivsk District Prosecutor’s Office, served the detainee a notice of suspicion of committing a criminal offence stipulated by Part 1 Article 115 (Murder) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article provides for imprisonment for a term of seven to fifteen years.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, the issue of choosing a type of detention is being decided.
