Police detain two dealers suspected of selling drugs and psychotropics in Lviv

It was established that a 19-year-old resident of Lviv distributed PVP and cannabis by making “bookmarks” in Lviv and the region, and a 28-year-old resident of Khmelnytskyi sold cannabis by sending mail. They face imprisonment for up to ten years with confiscation of property.

The offender from Lviv was exposed by officers of the Drug Crime Department of the Lviv Police jointly with investigators of the Police Department No. 2 of the Lviv District Police Department No. 2, under the procedural supervision of the Frankivsk District Prosecutor’s Office.

The police documented five facts of the man’s sale of the psychotropic substance PVP and detained him on 19 September in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. The police also established the coordinates of 8 places where the detainee had placed “bookmarks” the day before and seized them. In addition, during an authorised search at his place of residence, law enforcement officers found and seized prohibited substances similar to PVP and cannabis, bank cards, a mobile phone and other material evidence of the detainee’s involvement in illegal activities.

The offender was served a notice of suspicion of committing a criminal offence stipulated by Part 2 Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation, transfer or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues). The maximum penalty provided for by the sanction of the article is imprisonment for up to ten years with confiscation of property.

The offender from Khmelnytskyi was exposed by officers of the Drug Crime Department of the Lviv Police jointly with investigators of the Police Department No. 1 of the Lviv District Police Department No. 2, under the procedural supervision of the Frankivsk District Prosecutor’s Office. On 19 September, he was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

The police documented five facts of the suspect’s sale of cannabis. During an authorised search at the offender’s residence, law enforcement officers found and seized a substance similar to cannabis, packaging, electronic scales, a mobile phone and other material evidence of his involvement in illegal activities.

The offender was served a notice of suspicion of committing criminal offences stipulated by Part 1, Part 2 of Art. 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Illegal production, manufacture, purchase, storage, transportation, shipment or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues). The maximum penalty under the article is imprisonment for up to ten years with confiscation of property.

In both cases, all the seized items were sent for expert examination to the Lviv Scientific Research Forensic Centre of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.

The pre-trial investigations are ongoing, and the court will soon choose a measure of restraint against the suspects.
