Police detain two criminals in Lviv on suspicion of car theft

On 12 February, at around 05.00, the police received a report from a 26-year-old Lviv resident that tools, car parts and other property had been stolen from his Volkswagen Golf, parked on Polubotka Street in Lviv.

Criminal police operatives, the investigative team and other officers of the Police Department No. 2 of the Lviv District Police Department No. 2 immediately arrived at the scene. As a result of the operational measures taken, law enforcement officers established that two Lviv residents aged 34 and 51 were involved in the theft and detained them in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. The police also found and seized material evidence from them.

Investigators of the territorial police unit, under the procedural supervision of the Frankivsk District Prosecutor’s Office, opened criminal proceedings under Part 4 of Article 185 (theft) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for a term of five to eight years.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing. The court will soon choose a measure of restraint against the detainees.
