In Lviv, police detained a resident of Kharkiv, involved in the brutal beating of an acquaintance injuries

The victim, also from Kharkiv, died from his injuries. The perpetrator faces up to ten years in prison for the crime

Today, May 11, the police received a report from ambulance doctors about the discovery of a man’s body without signs of life in one of the apartments on Korotka Street in Lviv.

The Investigative Task Force and other employees of the Police Department №1 of the Lviv District Police Department worked at the specified address. On the floor of the apartment, police found the body of a man with multiple injuries and identified the deceased, a 44-year-old resident of Kharkiv. In addition, a 39-year-old roommate and a friend of the victim, also residents of Kharkiv, were in the apartment.

The police also previously established that all three had been drinking alcohol in a rented apartment the night before. A conflict broke out between the men, during which a 39-year-old Kharkiv resident brutally beat a friend over a drink. For several hours, the attacker struck him on the torso and head, while not allowing a roommate to provide first aid, threatening physical violence.

Only in the morning, when the malefactor fell asleep, the woman was able to call the police and ambulance. According to the preliminary conclusion of the medics, the victim died as a result of bodily injuries.

Militiamen detained the malefactor on a scene according to item 208 of the Criminal procedure code of Ukraine. The court will soon choose a measure of restraint for him.

Investigators of the territorial police department opened a criminal case under Part 2 of Article 121 (Intentional grievous bodily harm resulting in the death of the victim) of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for a term of seven to ten years.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
