Lviv police detain previously convicted criminal on suspicion of robbing a passerby

Law enforcers once again remind that under martial law, theft, robbery, extortion, as well as misappropriation, embezzlement or seizure of property through abuse of office, are punishable by maximum penalties.

According to law enforcement officers, on 4 February at around 21.15 on Navrotskoho Street in Lviv, the offender attacked a passer-by, punched him in the face, snatched his mobile phone from his hands and tried to escape. The incident was witnessed by two men who called the 102 operational line and helped to detain the attacker.

Criminal police operatives and investigators of the Police Department No. 2 of the Lviv District Police Department No. 2 identified the attacker as a 37-year-old resident of Boryslav, who had previously been prosecuted for robbery and theft. He was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

The territorial police unit opened criminal proceedings under Part 4 of Article 186 (Robbery) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for a term of seven to ten years.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and the court will soon choose a measure of restraint against the detainee.
