In Lviv, the police detained criminals who illegally deprived a foreigner of his freedom

According to the victim, the attackers demanded a significant amount of money from him.

On October 5, around 9:00 p.m., on Zubrivska Street in Lviv, a passer-by saw several men jump out of a Toyota Land Cruiser car parked on the side of the road, attack a citizen who was just leaving the house, forcefully push him into their car and quickly drive away from the scene. The eyewitness immediately reported this to the 102 hotline.

The officers of the services and units of the Lviv Oblast Police, as well as the Patrol Police Department of the Lviv Oblast, were able to identify the perpetrators’ car. Within a few minutes, patrol police crews found the wanted car on one of Lviv’s streets and stopped it.

The investigative and operative group of the police department No. 2 of the Lviv district police department No. 2 worked at the scene of the incident. Law enforcement officers detained two Lviv residents aged 24 and 50 who were in a Toyota in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and released their victim, a 27-year-old foreigner. According to the victim, who has been living in Lviv for a long time, the attackers demanded a large sum of money from him for his release.

According to the fact, investigators of the territorial division of the police opened criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 146 (Illegal deprivation of liberty or kidnapping of a person) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for a punishment – restriction of freedom for a term of up to five years or deprivation of liberty for the same term.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and the court will soon choose preventive measures for the detainees.
