In Lviv, the police arrested a criminal on suspicion of committing an audacious apartment theft

Taking advantage of the fact that the landlady left the front door unlocked, the suspect entered the apartment, grabbed her purse and ran away. For what she committed, she faces a penalty of imprisonment for a term of up to eight years.

The theft was reported to the police on January 16 around 7:00 p.m. According to the applicant, a 28-year-old resident of Lviv, a purse with bank cards, documents, cash and other things was stolen from her apartment, located in one of the buildings on Heroiv UPA street.

According to the hostess, the thief took advantage of the fact that she did not close the front door when she returned home. After waiting for the right moment, the intruder entered the apartment, grabbed the purse and ran away unnoticed. The applicant found out about the theft already when she received a message that someone had used her credit card to pay for the purchase of goods in the store. Then the woman reported the incident to the emergency line 102.

Detectives of the criminal police, investigators and employees of other divisions of the Lviv District Police Department No. 2 were involved in solving the crime. With the help of Bezpechna Lvivshchyna video surveillance cameras, the police established that a 31-year-old resident of Kharkiv region was involved in the crime, searched for her and detained her in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. Physical evidence was seized.

According to the fact, the investigators of the territorial division of the police, under the procedural guidance of the Frankiv District Prosecutor’s Office, opened criminal proceedings under Part 4 of Article 185 (Theft) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a term of five to eight years.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, soon the court will choose a preventive measure for the detainee.
