Lviv police detain offender who organised a den for sale and use of psychotropic drugs

The 43-year-old Lviv resident was exposed by criminal police operatives jointly with investigators of the Police Department No. 2 of the Lviv District Police Department No. 2, under the procedural supervision of the Frankivsk District Prosecutor’s Office.

According to law enforcement officers, the woman organised a place for the use of psychotropic drugs, including PVP, in an apartment in a house on Zubrivska Street. At the same address, the offender’s “clients” could buy prohibited substances.

The police documented several episodes of illegal activity of the Lviv resident and detained her in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

During the authorised search, law enforcement officers found and seized a substance similar to the psychotropic drug PVP, packaging facilities and other material evidence. All seized items were sent for examination to the Lviv Scientific Research Forensic Centre of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.

Investigators served the detainee a notice of suspicion of committing a criminal offence under Part 2 of Art. 307 (Illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation, shipment or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for a term of six to ten years with confiscation of property.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and the court will soon choose a measure of restraint against the suspect.
