Lviv dry cleaner stole a car and caused an accident

Under the procedural supervision of the Galician District Prosecutor’s Office of Lviv, a 27-year-old native of Kherson was served a notice of suspicion of illegal seizure of a vehicle (Part 2 Art. 289 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

Currently, at the request of the prosecution, the man is in custody.

According to the investigation, a man stole a Volkswagen Touareg in Bryukhovychi. Previously, the owner of the car had left it to have the interior dry-cleaned. However, one of the workers who was supposed to service the car stole the vehicle.

Subsequently, he drove the car to Lviv, where he caused an accident in the central part of the city and fled the scene to avoid being detained by patrol police officers.

However, thanks to the coordinated actions of law enforcement officers, the suspect was detained.

The pre-trial investigation is being carried out by investigators of the Police Department No. 1 of the Lviv District Police Department No. 1 of the Main Directorate of the National Police of the region.

Note: In accordance with Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person shall be presumed innocent of committing a crime and shall not be subjected to criminal punishment until his or her guilt is proved by law and established by a court verdict of guilty.
