The suspect, a 20-year-old man from Lviv, was exposed by the operatives of the Cybercrime Countermeasures Office in the Lviv Region together with the investigators of the Lviv District Police Department No. 1, under the procedural guidance of the Galicia District Prosecutor’s Office.
As the law enforcement officers established, the attacker created a site on one of the trading platforms on the Internet for the sale of allegedly original products – headphones from one of the world’s leading manufacturing companies. However, under the guise of original goods, he sold low-quality fakes to customers at attractive prices.
The law enforcement officers documented the fact of the fraudster’s illegal activity, as a result of which one of his clients suffered losses of several thousand hryvnias.
The investigators informed the intruder of the suspicion of committing a criminal offense provided for in Part 3 of Article 190 (Fraud) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – a fine of four thousand to eight thousand tax-free minimum incomes of citizens or deprivation of liberty for a period of three to five years.
