In Lviv, law enforcement officers detained a Kyivan who was “bookmarking” psychotropic drugs

The detainee is liable to imprisonment for up to ten years with confiscation of property

On July 17, around 1:00 p.m., on Yeroshenka Street in Lviv, soldiers of the special purpose police battalion of the Lviv Oblast police, while patrolling the territory, discovered a suspicious passerby who had with him 16 prepackaged bags with substances similar to the psychotropic drug “PVP”.

An investigative-operational group and criminal police operatives of police department No. 1 of Lviv district police department No. 1 worked at the scene of the incident.

The identity of the passer-by has been established – he turned out to be a 23-year-old resident of the city of Kyiv, who was the one who made the “bookmarks” of psychotropic substances. Later, law enforcement officers discovered 3 “bookmarks” that he managed to make earlier.

In addition, during an emergency search of the apartment rented by a Kyiv resident, the police officers discovered and seized substances similar to the psychotropic drug “PVP”, electronic scales, packaging materials and other physical evidence. Everything removed is directed to expert research.

The perpetrator was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, the investigators of the territorial division of the police, under the procedural guidance of the Galicia District Prosecutor’s Office, informed him of the suspicion of committing a criminal offense provided for in Part 2 of Article 307 (Illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation, forwarding or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum punishment provided by the sanction of the article is imprisonment for a term of up to ten years with confiscation of property.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and soon the court will choose a preventive measure for the suspect.
