Law enforcers detain psychotropic drug dealer in Lviv

It was established that a 34-year-old resident of Lviv distributed prohibited substances by making “bookmarks”. He faces imprisonment for up to ten years with confiscation of property.

The offender was exposed by criminal police operatives of the Lviv District Police Department No. 1 while patrolling the service area on Zamkova Street and detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

Law enforcement officers seized 15 ziplock bags with a substance similar to the psychotropic drug PVP from the detainee. He had already sold some of the packages. All the seized items were sent for expert examination to the Lviv Scientific Research Forensic Centre of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.

Investigators of the territorial police unit, under the procedural supervision of the Halych District Prosecutor’s Office, served the offender a notice of suspicion of committing a criminal offence under Part 2 of Art. 307 (Illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation, shipment or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum penalty provided for by the article is imprisonment for up to ten years with confiscation of property.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and the court will soon choose a measure of restraint against the suspect.
