In Lviv, law enforcement officers detained a “pawnshop” of cannabis

The prohibited substances seized from him are sent for expert research. The 23-year-old man from Lviv faces up to eight years in prison for his crime.

The perpetrator was exposed by patrol police officers while on duty on April 20 on Vinnytsia Street. The man had with him 26 rolls (“bookmarks”) and a zip-top bag with a substance of green plant origin, outwardly similar to “cannabis”.

The investigative and operative group of police department No. 1 of the Lviv district police department No. 1 worked at the scene of the incident. Law enforcement officers identified the perpetrator, a 23-year-old resident of Lviv, and detained him in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. The recovered substances are sent for expert research.

According to the fact, the investigators of the territorial division of the police opened criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Article 307 (Illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation, forwarding or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a term of four to eight years.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, soon the court will choose a preventive measure for the detainee.
