Under the aegis of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, a 40-year-old man was detained for organizing the illegal crossing of the Ukrainian state border for a conscription-age individual, utilizing routes outside the control checkpoints. The incident is qualified under part 3 of article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
According to the investigation, in January of this year, the accused implemented a mechanism for fleeing across the border, promising the client transportation from Lviv to Transcarpathia and further instructions for crossing the border without going through the official checkpoints. The cost of the services amounted to 12,000 US dollars.
The criminal was arrested while receiving the money, following article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. At the prosecutor’s request, the court ordered detention with the possibility of bail. The investigation continues to identify all accomplices.
The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of the Main Department of the National Police in Lviv region together with the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine and the Operational and Investigative Activities Division of the Western Regional Management.
