Commercial director of company to be tried in Lviv for promising to influence customs officials
Prosecutors of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office have sent to court an indictment against the commercial director of a brokerage company.
He is charged with obtaining an unlawful benefit for himself for influencing the decision-making of a person authorised to perform state functions (Part 2 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The investigation established that the defendant received USD 1,050 in unlawful benefit from a company representative.
In return for this money, the man promised that he would exert illegal influence on customs officials who would ensure unimpeded and fast customs clearance of the company’s goods. The company specialises in wholesale trade in imported food products.
The pre-trial investigation was carried out by the State Bureau of Investigation, based on the materials of the SBU Office in Lviv region.
Note: In accordance with Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and shall not be subjected to criminal punishment until his or her guilt is proved by law and established by a court verdict of guilty.
