Detention in Lviv: Son Suspected of Murdering Mother

A man detained in Lviv on suspicion of murdering his mother

For the crime committed, the detainee faces a penalty of up to fifteen years of imprisonment.

Circumstances of the Crime

On April 28, the police received a report that a woman’s body with signs of violent death was found in an apartment of a building on Romanchuk Street in Lviv.

At the scene, an investigative team and officers from other departments of the Lviv District Police Department No. 1, as well as forensic specialists of the Lviv Police, were working.

The woman’s body was sent for an examination, which determined that death resulted from sustained bodily injuries.

Suspect

Law enforcement established that the 61-year-old Lviv woman was murdered by her 39-year-old son.

Police detained the perpetrator under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

Under the procedural guidance of the Galicia District Prosecutor’s Office, investigators informed the detainee about the suspicion of committing a criminal offense under Part 1 of Article 115 (Premeditated Murder) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article’s sanction provides for a penalty of imprisonment from seven to fifteen years.
