Almost five kilos of psychotropic drugs seized from a man in Lviv

Drug dealer, from whom law enforcement seized almost five kilos of psychotropic drugs, will be tried in Lviv

The value of the seized psychotropic drugs and narcotic substances at black market prices is over two million hryvnias. The accused faces imprisonment for a term of nine to twelve years with confiscation of property.

According to law enforcement officers, the 28-year-old Lviv resident bought psychotropic drugs via the Internet and sold them by “bookmarking” and “hand-to-hand” to drug addicts in Lviv region.

During an authorised search of the offender’s car, law enforcement officers found and seized almost four kilograms of the psychotropic substance PVP. Also, during an urgent search of the suspect’s residence, almost a kilogram of prohibited substances was found and seized: “PVP, amphetamine, MDMA pills and cannabis, as well as electronic scales, packaging equipment and other material evidence of the defendant’s involvement in illegal activities. All seized items were sent for expert examination to the Lviv Scientific Research Forensic Centre of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.

The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings initiated under Part 3 Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation, transfer or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues) has been completed. The indictment was sent to the court for consideration.

The offender was exposed by officers of the Drug Crime Department, operatives of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Lviv Police, investigators of the Police Department No. 1 of the Lviv District Police Department No. 1, together with operatives of the 7th Border Guard Detachment and dog handlers of the Lviv Customs with a sniffer dog, under the procedural supervision of the Halychyna District Prosecutor’s Office.
