The road accident occurred today, 8 July, at 00.45 on Chornovil Avenue.
Law enforcement officers have preliminarily established that the driver of a Dacia Logan, a 22-year-old resident of Lviv, hit a pedestrian, also a resident of Lviv, aged 37. As a result of the collision, the man was injured and died on the way to hospital.
Investigators of the Transport Crimes Investigation Department of the Lviv Regional Police opened criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 286 (Violation of the rules of road safety or operation of transport by persons driving vehicles) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for a term of three to eight years with or without deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years.
Pre-trial investigation is underway, law enforcement officers are establishing the circumstances of the incident.
