In Lviv, a school teacher from Horlivka was tried for collaborationism

Victoria Sukhikh agreed to cooperate with the Russians and taught at a school in occupied Horlivka

The Halytskyi District Court of Lviv sentenced the teacher Victoria Suhykh, who agreed to cooperate with the Russians and taught Russian language and literature at a school in occupied Horlivka. The teacher supported the Russian Federation and spread enemy propaganda. The collaborators were sentenced to three years in prison, but released from serving the sentence with a two-year probationary period.

As indicated in the court’s verdict, which was handed down in August 2023, Viktoriya Sukhikh, a native of the Poltava region, agreed to cooperate with the Russians at a time not determined by the investigation, but no later than January 2023, while staying in the temporarily occupied city of Horlivka in Donetsk region. Victoria Sukhikh became the deputy director of school No. 77, teaching Russian language and literature.

Victoria Sukhikh denied Russian armed aggression, supported and spread enemy propaganda. In particular, the teacher did this in the 8th grade group, where she was the class leader created on the Russian social network Vkontakte.

Ukrainian law enforcement officers accused Viktoriya Sukhykh of collaborative activities. In court, the woman admitted her guilt and entered into a plea agreement with the prosecutor.

The case was considered by judge Iryna Volosko, who found Victoria Sukhikh guilty of collaborative activity and sentenced her to three years in prison with a ban on working in educational institutions, state authorities or local self-government for 10 years. However, the woman was released from serving the prescribed sentence with a two-year probationary period.

The verdict can still be appealed.
