In Lviv, a developer and his mother are suspected of embezzling 16 million hryvnias from investors in a new building in the city

Under the procedural leadership of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the founder and accountant of one of the Lviv enterprises was notified of suspicion of fraud (Part 3, 4 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation, the man, using a company controlled by him, the subject of which is the management of investors’ assets and his own trademark, decided to seize citizens’ funds under the guise of investing them in the construction of a multi-apartment residential complex consisting of residential and non-residential premises. The entrepreneur involved his mother, who worked there as an accountant, in illegal activities.

The suspects were selling apartments in a new building located on one of the central streets in the city of Lviv. The suspects did not transfer the citizens’ funds invested in the construction to the developer, but used them for their own needs. As a result, the construction of a residential building was not actually carried out.

So far, it has been established that 19 people were injured by their actions, and the total amount of damages is 16 million hryvnias.

The issue of announcing the search for suspects in connection with their departure outside Ukraine is being resolved.

The pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings is carried out by the investigators of the Investigative Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police of the Lviv Region under the operational support of the Strategic Investigations Department in the Lviv Region of the SSR of the National Police of Ukraine.

Note: in accordance with Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until his guilt is proven in a legal manner and established by a court verdict.
