Three members of the “DNR” will be tried in absentia in Lviv

Under the procedural leadership of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, indictments against three citizens of Ukraine were sent to the court. They are charged with treason, participation in a terrorist organization and activities of armed formations not provided for by law (Part 1 of Article 111, Part 1 of Article 258-3, Part 2 of Article 260 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The investigation established that residents of the Donetsk region joined the ranks of the armed formation not provided for by law, the so-called “DNR”.

During military service, the two defendants guarded the deployment locations of Russian units and provided filtering measures for the local population at checkpoints.

Another defendant served as the chief of staff of the regiment. He issued orders to subordinate servicemen to conduct hostilities against the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The man was also responsible for the mobilization readiness of the regiment and military discipline, organized the guard and internal service, etc.

A special pre-trial investigation was carried out by the investigators of the SBU Office in the Lviv region.

Note: in accordance with Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until his guilt is proven in a legal manner and established by a court verdict.
