Arrest of an Offender in Lviv for Brutal Beating

A man was arrested in Lviv for a brutal beating of a passerby

A conflict arose between two men who were intoxicated, leading to a brutal beating.

Incident Details

Law enforcement established that on March 2, around four in the morning, on Svobody Avenue in Lviv, the perpetrator brutally beat a 28-year-old resident of the Lviv district, then left the scene. The victim, with severe head injuries, was taken to the hospital and is currently under medical supervision.

Operatives of the criminal police, investigators, and employees of other services of the Lviv District Police Department No. 1, as well as operatives from the criminal investigation department and employees of the Criminal Analysis Department of the Lviv Police, were involved in solving the crime.

Detention and Investigation

Through conducted measures and by examining video surveillance records from the “Safe Lviv Region” system, law enforcement identified the perpetrator’s location and detained him under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. The suspect was identified as a 30-year-old Lviv resident. It was also established that a sudden conflict arose between the men, who were intoxicated.

Investigators informed the detainee of suspicion of committing a criminal offense provided for by Part 1 of Article 121 (Intentional serious bodily injury) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for a punishment of imprisonment for a term of five to eight years.

Pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
