On the border with Poland, border guards of the Lviv detachment prevented an attempt to smuggle tobacco products.
Yesterday evening, a Mercedes truck, driven by a 47-year-old foreigner, arrived at the Sheghini checkpoint. Based on the analysis and risk assessment, the border guards decided to carry out an additional inspection of the cargo truck.
In the course of which, together with customs officials, they discovered caches of tobacco products of the Compliment brand. Cigarettes were hidden in a niche for tools and under decorative floor coverings. In total, 448 packs of cigarettes without Ukrainian excise duty stamps were retrieved from the cache.
Tobacco contraband moved in violation of current legislation was seized. The assessment amount is set.
