The accident happened on 3 December, around 16.50, on Bandera Street in Sambir.
As law enforcement officers have preliminarily established, the driver of a Volkswagen Passat, a 68-year-old resident of Sambir, hit a pedestrian, a 68-year-old local resident.
As a result of the accident, the elderly woman was injured and taken to hospital.
Investigators of the Sambir District Police Department opened criminal proceedings over the incident under Part 1 of Article 286 (Violation of the rules of road safety) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum punishment provided for by the sanction of the article is restraint of liberty for up to three years, with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years.
Law enforcement officers are establishing the circumstances of the incident.
