Under the procedural guidance of the Sambir district prosecutor’s office, a 37-year-old local resident was notified of suspicion. He is accused of illegal sale of narcotics (parts 1, 2 of article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, during July of this year, the suspect in Sambor was selling “Metafin IC” tablets, which contain the narcotic drug methadone, at his place of residence.
Since the man was a drug addict, he was registered with a narcologist. Therefore, he had the opportunity to receive a narcotic drug free of charge under the program “Substitute Supportive Therapy”. However, instead of using them for medicinal purposes, he sold them to other drug addicts.
The man was detained in accordance with Art. 208 of the CPC of Ukraine.
During searches of the suspect’s residence, narcotic pills were discovered and seized.
Investigative actions are ongoing, the issue of selecting a preventive measure for the detainee is being resolved.
The pre-trial investigation is carried out by the investigators of the Sambir district police department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Lviv region.
Note: in accordance with Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until his guilt is proven in a legal manner and established by a court verdict.
