The traffic accident happened on September 1, around 1:30 p.m., on the Kyiv-Chop highway in the village of Yampil, Lviv district.
As previously established by law enforcement officers, there was a collision between a Mercedes car driven by a 77-year-old man from Lviv and a DAF truck driven by a 44-year-old resident of Chernihiv region.
As a result of the accident, the driver of the “Mercedes” received bodily injuries, from which he died at the scene.
According to the fact, the investigators of the Department of Investigation of Crimes in the Field of Transport of the Lviv Oblast Police opened criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 286 (Violation of Traffic Safety Rules) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a term of three to eight years with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a term of up to three years or without it.
An investigation is underway, law enforcement officers are establishing the circumstances of the incident.
