Tragic Accident in Skole: Minibus Driver Died on the Spot
The road traffic accident occurred on May 9, around 3:50 PM, on Heroyiv Makivky Street in the city of Skole, Stryi District.
Accident Circumstances
As preliminarily established by law enforcement officers, the driver of the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter minibus, a 40-year-old resident of Rivne region, drove into the oncoming lane and collided with a MAN truck driven by a 40-year-old resident of Kyiv region. After that, the minibus, in an uncontrolled state, collided with a Scania truck driven by a 37-year-old resident of Cherkasy region.
Due to the injuries sustained in the accident, the minibus driver died at the scene.
Investigation
Investigators from the department of crime investigation in the transport sector of the Lviv police have opened a criminal proceeding under Part 2 of Article 286 (Violation of traffic safety rules) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article’s sanction provides for a punishment of imprisonment for a term of three to eight years with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a term of up to three years or without such.
