In Sokal, the police arrested an intruder involved in the theft of equipment and money from a store

The law enforcement officers remind once again that in the conditions of martial law, the maximum punishments are provided for committing theft, robbery, robbery, extortion, as well as for misappropriation, waste of property or possession of it by abuse of official position.

On November 22, a resident of the city of Sokal contacted the police and reported that an unknown person stole computer equipment and proceeds from the store at night.

Employees of the Chervonograd District Police Department and Police Department No. 2 of the Territorial Police Division worked at the scene. According to the law enforcement officers, the intruder entered the store through the window and stole a laptop and cash.

After studying the video surveillance cameras and conducting other investigative actions, the police soon established the identity of the intruder, a 34-year-old local resident.

The man was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. Material evidence (computer equipment and money) was seized from him.

According to the fact, investigators of the territorial division of the police, under the procedural guidance of the Chervonograd District Prosecutor’s Office, opened criminal proceedings under Part 4 of Article 185 (Theft) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a term of five to eight years.

The issue of notifying the detainee of suspicion of theft and choosing a preventive measure is being resolved.
