The 59-year-old local resident faces up to ten years in prison for the crime.
According to law enforcement officers, on September 22, around 10 a.m., on Ivasyuka Street in Sokal, a 59-year-old local resident sprayed gas from a canister in the face of a 71-year-old local resident, hit him several times in the head, then took money and a mobile phone and fled.
Detectives of the criminal police and investigators of police department No. 2 of the Chervonograd district police department were involved in solving the crime.
The law enforcement officers conducted a complex of operational and search measures, established the location of the perpetrator and detained him in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
Investigators of the territorial unit of the police, under the procedural guidance of the Sokal district prosecutor’s office, informed the detainee of the suspicion of committing a criminal offense provided for in part 4 of article 186 (Robbery) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a term of seven to ten years.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, soon the court will choose a preventive measure for the perpetrator.
The law enforcement officers remind once again that in the conditions of martial law, the maximum punishments are provided for committing theft, robbery, robbery, extortion, as well as for misappropriation, waste of property or possession of it by abuse of official position.
