In Stebnik, the police detained an intruder on suspicion of murdering an acquaintance

For the crime committed, the detainee is liable to imprisonment for a term of seven to fifteen years.

On December 22, the emergency line 102 received a message from an emergency medical doctor that, upon arriving at a call to one of the hostels located in the city of Stebnyk, he discovered the body of a man with signs of violent death.

An investigative and operative group, operatives of the criminal police and employees of other services of the Drohobytsky district police department worked at the scene of the incident. Law enforcement officers established the identity of the deceased – he turned out to be a 52-year-old local resident. Forensic experts found cut wounds on the body, in particular, in the area of the chest, neck and legs.

Through the conducted measures, the police established that the deceased was stabbed to death by his acquaintance, also a 53-year-old resident of Stebnyk, during the conflict.

Law enforcement officers located the perpetrator and detained him in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, and also seized physical evidence of his involvement in the murder.

The issue of notifying a detainee of suspicion of committing a crime under Part 1 of Article 115 (Deliberate murder) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine is being resolved. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a term of seven to fifteen years.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, soon the court will choose a preventive measure for the perpetrator.
