The law enforcement officers once again appeal to the citizens – be as attentive and careful as possible while on the railway tracks, cross them only at designated places, making sure that there is no train. Remember that the railway is a high-danger zone.
The traffic incident occurred on December 13, around 5:45 p.m., at a railway crossing (picket No. 8) in the village of Lyubyntsi, Stryi district.
As previously established by the law enforcement officers, an electric train on the Lviv-Uzhhorod route ran over a 67-year-old resident of Stry, who was crossing the tracks at an unspecified place.
The elderly man died at the scene from his injuries.
According to the fact, the investigators of the Stryi district police department opened criminal proceedings under Part 3 of Article 276 (Violation of traffic safety rules or operation of railway, water or air transport) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a term of five to ten years.
Law enforcement officers are establishing all the circumstances of the incident.
