While drinking alcohol, a 71-year-old resident of the city of Zhydachiv hit a 64-year-old resident of one of the villages of the district with a frying pan several times – the beaten man died a few hours later.
On September 22, the police received a message from the “ambulance” medics about the discovery of a man’s body in the garage of a private house in one of the villages of the district.
The investigative and operative group and other employees of the police department No. 1 of the Stryi district police department worked at the scene of the incident. The police found the body of a man with signs of violent death and identified the deceased as a 64-year-old local resident.
It was also established that the night before, while drinking alcoholic beverages, the deceased had a conflict with a 71-year-old resident of the city of Zhydachiv, during which the attacker struck him several times, including with a metal frying pan. After that, the attacker fell asleep in the garage, and the beaten man died from his injuries within a few hours.
The police arrested the person involved in the murder at the scene in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. Physical evidence was seized from him.
The investigators informed the detainee that he was suspected of committing a criminal offense provided for in Part 1 of Article 115 (Deliberate murder) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a term of seven to fifteen years.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
