A drunk motorcyclist caused an accident in Velyki Mosty

Police detain motorcyclist who caused an accident while being intoxicated in Lviv region

The driver and a passenger of the motorcycle were injured as a result of the vehicle crash.

The road accident occurred on 12 November, around 17.30, in the town of Velyki Mosty, Sheptytskyi district.

As law enforcement officers have preliminarily established, a 48-year-old local resident lost control of her Musstang motorcycle, causing the vehicle to crash.

As a result of the accident, the driver and a passenger of the motorcycle, a 43-year-old resident of Sheptytske, were injured and taken to hospital.

It was established that the driver was driving the vehicle in a state of intoxication. She was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, and the court will soon choose a measure of restraint.

Investigators of the Sheptytsky District Police Department No. 2 opened criminal proceedings over the incident under Part 1 of Article 286-1 (Violation of the rules of road safety or operation of transport by persons driving vehicles while intoxicated) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article provides for imprisonment for up to three years with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a term of three to five years.

Law enforcement officers are establishing the circumstances of the incident.
