A man beat his friend in Novoyavorivsk

Police detained an offender in Lviv region on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm to his acquaintance

As officers of the Yavoriv District Police Department found out, the men had been in a hostile relationship for a long time. The suspect faces up to eight years’ imprisonment for his crime. The injured man is in hospital.

 

On 19 July, around 16.00, in the city of Novoyavorivsk, a 52-year-old local resident, during a conflict, punched another resident of Novoyavorivsk aged 66. As a result, the man fell and sustained a severe head injury.

Law enforcers established the offender’s whereabouts and detained him in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

Investigators of the territorial police unit, under the procedural supervision of the Yavoriv District Prosecutor’s Office, served the detainee a notice of suspicion of committing a criminal offence under Part 1 of Article 121 (Intentional grievous bodily harm) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article provides for imprisonment for a term of five to eight years.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and the court will soon choose a measure of restraint against the suspect.
